Open Mic Wednesday - Let Freedom Ring Edition

We’re going to take a break here at AGS for a few days.
This means that I’ll get to see my family, ride the bike and catch up on my reading to celebrate American’s birthday.
Tish has been pretty busy with Uplift at Harding and Alan’s been working a lot so it’s been a typical summer for [...]

Open Mic Wednesday

I’ve got classes and meetings for most of the day.
I haven’t said too much about Arkansas Governor’s School this year but that’s where I’m working right now and things are going well.
The 400 students who attend AGS are some of Arkansas’ best and brightest high school students. It’s an honor to be teaching them.
This [...]

Open Mic Wednesday

Yep.  It’s the middle of the week already.
Governor’s School is going well.  I’ll try to write more about that later but it’s basically the best summer job I’ve ever had.
On the other hand, my other summer jobs have included selling fireworks, hanging drywall and working in restaurants.

Open Mic Wednesday

Welcome to the middle of your week.
Since I’m all about small accomplishments, I’m proud to report that I’ve been in my dorm room at Hendrix for almost a full day and I haven’t locked myself out yet.
Let’s plug this thing in and see if it works.

Open Mic Wednesday (Thursday Version)

Uhhh… better later than never.
Whatever’s on you mind.
I’m thinking about a bike ride and then taking the lawn mower for a spin around the yard. After I trim the yard, I’m going to see about getting a haircut.
All three would be good for ME.
Wake up. Larry.

Open Mic Wednesday (Road Trip Edition)

My guest moderator will be taking care of business for most of the day. Don’t be too hard on him…
I’ll going to be in Chicago for a couple of days soaking up the culture of the Midwest.
And yes; some of that culture involves baseball.
I’ve got tickets for the Cubs-Rockies game on Thursday night and [...]

Open Mic Wednesday

Perhaps you’ve got something other than the election on your mind today.
I do but I don’t have time to write about it just now.
It concerns the raccoons. They’re back… and this time, it’s personal.

Open Mic Wednesday

Intersessions are fun to teach but hectic, particularly with a morning (8:00) class.
Once I hit campus, I’m basically in the classroom for 4 hours straight.
With an occasional coffee break.
So there could be a better time for this…

Open Mic Wednesday

Obviously, the biggest news of the day is Barack Obama picking up another 99 delegates in North Carolina and Indiana last night.
That probably sealed the deal on his nomination.
I stayed up late hoping that Obama would close the 20,000 margin with Hillary Clinton in Indiana but when I realized that it was really just about [...]

Open Mic Wednesday

Welcome to the middle of your week.
It’s the middle of my last week before the end of the semester.
Which is nice.
