White Like ME
They say that the scariest Halloween costume this year was Hillary Clinton.
Apparently, the second-scariest costume was Mark Elrod. At least it seemed to be that way in a couple of my classes at Harding University today.
Thanks, guys. That was pretty funny.

Almost Full Rotation
From Joel Osteen’s October 16, 2007 interview on CNN’s Larry King Live:
KING: OK.

KING: The only church that I know — the Mormons don’t display crosses.
J. OSTEEN: Well, Victoria grew up Church of Christ. They didn’t, either. It’s never — I mean, Larry, our whole message is the [...]

Open Mic Wednesday
Happy Halloween and Happy Wednesday.
It’s Halloween, it’s “Wednesday” and she’s happy. Get it?
On most Wednesdays, we just kind of let it go… the powers of this blog to stimulate discussion are legendary.
We get hits from as far away as Beijing, Tuscany and Judsonia.

In a effort to save American from listening to Springsteen’s songs and lyrics, Clear Channel Stations are refusing to play songs from the Boss’s new album, Magic.
Stations can still spin the oldies but new songs like Last to [...]

Those Deadly Meteorites
I usually open the section on “War & Conflict” in my international relations classes by pointing out that wars have killed a substantial number of human beings in human history.
The figure I use is 3.5 billion war-related fatalities in over 14,500 wars in about 5,500 years of human history.
Of course that figure can be adjusted [...]

My technicians tell me that WordPress 2.3 will allow ME to do some new things with the blog.
During the upgrade, there may be some interruptions in blog service for remainder of the day. You should still be able to make comments — just be prepared for [...]

Your Monday Morning History Quiz
Section I: Multiple Choice
Writing on pretentiousness of using the term “Islamofascism” to describe the “war on terrorism”, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman said:
And Mike Huckabee, whom reporters like to portray as a nice, reasonable guy, says that if Hillary Clinton is elected, “I’m not sure we’ll have the courage and the will and [...]
