Pandas Is Smart
Actually, they’re cute and smart.
That’s a dangerous combination.
If you don’t believe me, just watch these two stage a prison break in China.
They’re related to raccoons, you know.

This Week’s Sign of the Impending Apocalypse (#86)
South Carolina man mistakes a bale of straw for a stricken woman and gives it CPR.
Police believe that he had been drinking.
Do you think?
The 39-year-old male had called Hilton Head deputies at 1:49 a.m., saying he had just tried to perform CPR on a dead woman. When the officers arrived, they observed him talking [...]

Blog Reader’s Survey
I’m going to close the BlogAds Reader’s Survey after this weekend.
If you are interested in participating, you can get to it from this page. It’s been at the top of my weblog for some time and I’m ready to look at the results.

Seriously, Dick
Is Vice-president Dick Cheney part of the executive branch or not?
Cheney’s office argues that by merit of the fact that he is president of the Senate that he is not technically an Article II institution.
I have to wonder if he knows better.
All of this is the result of Cheney’s on-going fight to resist oversight of [...]

Global Image
Like the president, the United States of American has an image problem around the world.
I suspect that there is a correlation.
In a 47-nation survey by the non-partisan Pew Global Attitudes Project finds that global confidence in US leadership is declining. Likewise, the Chinese have slipped in terms of how much nations respect their leadership. [...]

Wednesday Weigh-in (Week 12)
It was the best of weeks, it was the worst of weeks…
I lost my bike, but the good news is that I also lost some more weight. My original plan was to give up walking 4-5 miles a day for or biking 10-12 miles each day this week but that was pure hubris. [...]

Last Blog Make-over and Open Thread
This is (hopefully) the last make-over my blog will ever receive.
I’ve got a new banner photo — that’s my bookshelf here in my dorm room at Hendrix College in Conway. I usually bring more books with me to Governor’s School but it occurred to me last year that they’ve got a pretty good library [...]

Another Blow to Student Free Speech
Forget about what I said back in March — Morse v. Frederick (Bong Hits 4 Jesus) was not a slam-dunk for the defense plaintiffs.
In a 6-3 decision today, the US Supreme Court ruled that student speech can be limited even when it is patently ridiculous and takes place away from school property.
I’ve said it before [...]
