Pittsburgh, PA
When I was in Pittsburgh a couple of years ago and saw PNC Park, I told myself that I really needed to see a game there some day.
We’re leaving Delaware in a few hours for Pittsburgh. The Bucs play the Padres tonight at 7:00 and Alan and I will be there.
The Phillies game last [...]

Search ME
May is always a great month, particularly if you are on the road and watching a lot of baseball games.
What a country. From sea to shining sea.
These are the most popular searches that brought thousands of spectators to my hot corner of the blogosphere this month:

Philadelphia via NYC
Alan and I are leaving Boston for Philly in a few minutes, via New York.
The Phillies play the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at Citizens Bank Park at 7:05. We’ll be there in time for the first pitch.
I grew up going to Phillies games and most of my friends were die-hard fans. But I [...]

Boston
Cooperstown was great but after being on the road for four days and nights, Alan and I are ready to see a real baseball game.
Alan and I have tickets for the Red Sox-Indians game at Fenway Park tomorrow night. We’re going to spend the day today touring Boston with our friends the Ayrauds. [...]

Memorial Day, 2007
Like many Americans, I’m on the road for Memorial Day Weekend (again). I wrote this post about the same time last year and I think it bears repeating. Have a good holiday.
Memorial Day was created after the American Civil War and developed out of local traditions of honoring war dead at military and [...]

Cooperstown, NY
The first time I saw Alan play baseball, I knew that he would go to Cooperstown someday.
But I never thought I’d have to drive him there and that we would both have to buy a ticket.
The Baseball Hall of Fame opens at 9:00 am tomorrow and we’ll be the first two through the doors. [...]

The Trip So Far…
Alan and I are sitting in a Bob Evans Restaurant in Aberdeen, Maryland with my brother Drew and his daughter, Charlotte. I’m going to spend the next couple of nights at my parents’ house in Delaware.
Drew picked us up at the BWI Airport about and hour ago. Alan and I spent the night [...]

This Week’s Sign of the Impending Apocalypse (#81)
A West Virginia evangelist, who describes himself as “an interdenominational Christian,” will pray for the sick and lame but his primary calling is in teeth-healing.
Rev. Steve Jones, a former coal miner and professional boxer, has been praying for the cracked molars, crooked teeth, toothaches and bad amalgam fillings of worshipers since 1987. He claims [...]

The 2007 Magical Mystery Baseball Tour
Sometime tonight, Alan and I will be arriving in Baltimore for the first of six major league baseball games in our 2007 Magical Mystery Baseball Tour.
When Alan was about 12 years old, I promised him that when he graduated from high school that we would take a road trip and see as many baseball games [...]

Caption This Friday
I’ll be on the road for a good part of the day today, so stand by for slow moderation.
My bolt from Searcy is in large part due to the fact that Intersession ends today. Hoo-ray.
At 8:00 this morning, my students will be just a few hours and a final exam away from summer freedom.
This [...]
