Search ME

Happy almost New Year, blogophiles.
Hundreds of thousands have now found themselves staring at the Lame-o Weblog when they could have been doing something more productive during the month of December.
Culling the list down to the top-ten searches has now become a monumental task and includes contributions from the entire Elrod family.
Ironically, since I am writing [...]

This Week’s Sign of the Impending Apocalypse (#61)

A Cambodian buffalo was shot to death after going on a rampage and allegedly goring six guests and bystanders at a wedding in Phnom Penh.
The buffalo apparently charged from a nearby field into some 100 guests who were attending a wedding of the daughter of a Cambodian tycoon on Thursday. What prompted the attack [...]

Live From the Jackson, Mississippi Whataburger #864

My second post from a Whatburger… this is exciting.
We’re on our way home from YIA 2006 in New Orleans. It’s pouring down rain but the good news is that we got a lot of work done in Chalmette and everyone is feeling good about it.
More later. I’ve got to eat my Whataburger.

Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Too

A man goes for a haircut and tells his barber about his upcoming trip to Italy.
“I’ve been planning this trip my entire life,” he says. “I’m flying to Rome from New York on Alitalia on Tuesday and staying at the Rome Hilton for three nights. And while I’m there, I’m going to try [...]

Get-Away Tuesday

We’re headed back to Searcy today after Christmas with Tish’s family in Nashville.
After a quick turn-around at our place, Tish and I are taking the West Side youth group to New Orleans for the 2006 Youth in Action conference. We’ll be back on Saturday.

I’m sure that you already know that singer-entertainer James Brown died yesterday.
Leave it to the “Hardest Working Man in Show Business” to go out in a flash on Christmas morning.
Brown was a charter member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1986) and a living legend. Among the many titles attributed to him [...]

The Lame-o Advent Calendar: December 25

Maybe you have an advent calendar in your home as well.
My calendar is a countdown of unusual items that I suspect that only a very few of us would really want for Christmas.
It is also designed to make whatever gifts you give or receive this holiday season look much better by comparison.
Today’s gift: Christmas With [...]

This Week’s Sign of the Impending Apocalypse (#60)

A group of assorted pagans, druids and pantheists in England celebrated Winter Solstice one day early this year because they didn’t read the calendar.
About 60 revellers gathered at Stonehenge to greet the dawn on Thursday morning only to be informed by the staff at the 5,100-year old structure that they were one day early.
Winter solstice [...]
